The Works - Detroit, Michigan (Gar bar)



The Works (Still open) is located at 1846 Michigan Ave in Detroit next to the old Tiger stadium (Now gone). It is on the corner of Michigan and Rosa Parks. The Works is primarily known for afterhours. It does get some special events for the Techno crowd.

    This place really doesn't qualify as a gay bar, in my opinion. I went there once; it was very depressing and I'll never go back.

    Seems like one of the few after-hours options left in Detroit these days.

    Back when this place first opened up in 2000 or 2001, it was a nice alternative to Numbers and Saturday nights were packed and fun.

    The after-hours scene isn't what it used to be and it's not nearly as consistently crowded anymore, though they may have a guest DJ in town or just catch it on a good night and it'll be busy. The crowd was more mixed (gay/straight) the last time I was there.

    Lots of great memories and good times there, tho.

    I to spent lots of great times in this bar when I use to go it was shoulder to shoulder i remember squeezing through the place every weekend

      Yes, it used to be called "Reedy's"
