  1. I was part of a whole crowd who worked and lived, and hung out in Harmonie Park, right behind the old Hudson's. It was late 70s and early 80s. Adler Schnee was on the corner, 4 gallaries ringed the tiny cement park. Cafe Harmonie was in a converted warehouse with a second floor gallery. Upstairs were lofts with a design studio and an avant gard dance troupe, as well as several artists studios scattered within buildings near the square. Next door was a great vintage shop called 'Fabulous 2nd Hands'. Less than than a block away was the Detroit Music Hall and we regularly had diners from Alvin Ailey, Pilobolus, opera companies, etc...The great blues legend Sippie Wallis even gave a performance there. The owners were a couple named Sarah George and Tim McKay. It was a wonderful time.

  2. By the way it was not a gay bar, it was a restaurant that catered to a varied clientele including Hudson,s workers at lunchtime and theater goers at night
